Founded by flaco, WEAREOKAY is the sound of a misfit finding his way back home. After years of fronting reggae bands and grinding through the San Diego 9-to-5 rat race, flaco found himself burned out and on the verge of giving up music altogether. Unsure of his next move, he started writing with no expectations, no genre in mind—just chasing a feeling. Time and time again, he kept coming back to the music that fueled his youth: pop punk. With a handful of songs but no clear plan, he reached out to longtime friend and musician Stephen Henry (Snowdreamer), who was living in North Carolina at the time, to add vocals and finishing touches. The moment Stephen heard the tracks, he packed his bags and moved out west to help build the project from the ground up.
Now, WEAREOKAY is gearing up to drop a massive 14-song album and is in the thick of booking a full release tour. This isn’t just about making music—it’s about building something real. flaco, born to a Peruvian dad and Venezuelan mom, with grandparents from Spain, grew up in the South feeling caught between cultures. Never fully fitting into one box, he found his identity in movement—skateboarding, surfing, and jiu-jitsu took him around the world, always chasing the next wave, the next fight, the next session. That same energy is what fuels WEAREOKAY, a band for the ones who never quite fit, who never stopped searching, who know that being a misfit isn’t a flaw—it’s the whole point.
